Life is hurried and at times full of hassles. But this winter I’ve been trying to find joy in the simple things. It sounds easy. But it is not as easy for me as I would like it to be. I am learning to let go, to unwind, to take in the moments and to find joy in the daily life moments.
Tonight our Mustang’s boys basketball team won by 20 points to a team that we had lost to just a couple weeks ago in an ugly loss. It was a joyous home court win in the first round of our district tournament.
We came home from the game to a homemade meal that my mom brought us from the farm. My mom added a great deal of joy to our day. She brought homemade breads, salads, huge meals that will last through the weekend, a chocolate cake and two kinds of cookies. She knows I am a bit scattered and stretched with schedules right now. The food put me at ease.
I am going to remember this for the future. When we have adult children I hope I can help them find joy in the daily family moments of their life and help them with their kids and meals. Both my parents and Nathan’s parents do that for us. We are joyously blessed. And let’s keep it real for a moment…that does not mean the laundry is done or that I have cleaned my house since before Christmas. I did get bills paid and my husband is a huge help around the house. But most importantly we are present. We are here enjoying the moments with our kids.
